Sophie and Shadow Jackson
|
Meet Sophie, our four-year-old Great Pyrenees, who we adopted from
the Humane Society of Boulder Valley when she was a 45-pound, four-month-old puppy. (Sophie now weighs 135 pounds.)
Great Pyrenees dogs take their name from the Pyrenees mountains between France and Spain. They're very elegant working dogs who for centuries have been used to guard sheep.
Our Sophie is gentle and very independent minded -- sometimes she even acts like a cat. She loves it when people pet her and brush her hair. She also loves to go for walks.

Here’s Shadow, our four-year-old Labrador retriever mix who we also adopted from the Humane Society of Boulder Valley.
Shadow weighs about 45 pounds and was the only dog at the Humane
Society who didn't shy away when he first met Sophie. Instead, Shadow immediately wanted to play with Sophie, which made her extremely happy. The two have been best friends ever since.

Love at first sight
Sophie may have looked
as gentle as a lamb when we adopted her, but she was a lively ‘little’ puppy those first few months.

- ZZZs please!
At the end of a long day, Sophie sometimes poops out.
